When cold and flu season kicks in, the urge to overeat becomes high – but eating the right foods can benefit your immunity and even speed healing when sick. Consuming foods that are rich in antioxidants, a type of chemical found in plants, help neutralize free radicals, protect cells and bolster the immune system. Antioxidants often give plants their colour and can also include vitamins C, A, and E. Some dieticians also recommend taking a daily multivitamin because people do not typically eat as many fruits and vegetables as they should (two to three cups per day).
